EastPointe Bible Church – Faith Belief Statements

Statements of EBC Faith Beliefs

1. What we believe about the Bible.

We believe the Holy Bible is made up of 39 Old Testament and 27 New Testament books and as originally written is verbally inspired. As the very Word of God, we believe it to be the supreme standard for all life and godliness.

2. What we believe about God.

We believe there is only one living and true God. We believe that in the unity of the Godhead, three persons have eternally existed; the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

3. What we believe about the fall of man.

We believe that Man was created in innocence but through his willful disobedience became totally depraved. As a result we believe that every human is under condemnation without defense, excuse, or ability to be righteous.

4. What we believe about salvation.

We believe that salvation is a gift and attained by faith alone, in Christ alone, and apart from works. We believe that the new birth takes one who is dead in trespasses and sins and makes him alive in Christ and through that we become a partaker in the divine nature and eternal life.

5. What we believe about Jesus.

We believe that Jesus Christ is fully God and fully human. We believe that He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, suffered death on the cross, and rose again from the dead victorious over both death and sin. His sacrifice atones for every sin of those who believe in Him.

6. What we believe about the local church.

We believe that the local church is a gathering of believers that have the right of self-government free from interference of any hierarchy of individuals or organizations. We believe the local assembly is governed by biblically qualified elders that answer to Christ, the head of the church.

7. What we believe about end times.

We believe that in the present church age and that the next event on God’s Calendar will be the rapture of the church which will begin the Second Coming of Jesus Christ. Following this, there will be a seven-year Tribulation after which Christ will reign on the earth for 1,000 years.
